DANCING EXAMINATIONS GROOMING REMINDER

PLEASE BE DRESSED AND READY 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR EXAM TIME WHEN THE CHILDREN WILL BE GIVEN A WARM UP

It is essential that candidates are properly groomed and turned out for exams

PLEASE ENSURE THAT YOU HAVE AND USE THE FOLLOWING:

HAIR

Hairnet (CK Shop can supply)

Gel (Wella Shock Waves)

Hair Pins as well as grips

Hair ribbon (narrow for ballet) for decoration

Strong elastics bands (soft stretchy bands or silky ‘scrunchies’ alone are not firm enough)

Hairstyles:

Ballet must be classical showing a smooth head shape e.g.: buns, crossed    plaits, French plaits

Modern tap and jazz more zany styles are acceptable but please ensure that they are comfortable when the candidate is lying on her back with her head straight and that there is no loose hair unless it has been especially curled. Beware of pony tails and plaits which fly into the eyes when turning. These are unacceptable.

SHOES

Tight fitting with absolutely no room for growth

Ballet shoes must have ribbons with elastics removed (if you are in any doubt as to how to tie them we will do it for you at the dress rehearsal)

Jazz shoes should be split sole and very tight fitting

Old shoes are fine as long as they are perfectly clean, vanish is excellent for grubby edge binding around ballet shoes.

GARMENTS

Leotards should be very tight fitting

Skirts must be of a length which when held to their full width does not cause the wearer to bend her elbows.

Tights must be purpose made for Ballet and  for Modern Jazz & Tap these must be well fitting . No wrinkles please and not too small to reach the wearers crutch comfortably.

Jewellery of every kind must be removed. Young children must wear no knickers and older girls high legged G Strings.

Please be fully dressed with hair done for the dress rehearsal to test if everything stays in place and is comfortable.

Many thanks for your co-operation
