Disciplines taught at CK Theatre School
The disciplines at CK Theatre School are taught in separate classes and levels following the certified system of ISTD and LAMDA examination boards from Primary / Introductory to Grade 8 / Advanced 1 levels.
Classical Ballet - the basis of all dance, essential to gain a high standard of technique, artistry and musicality
Modern Theatre and Tap - two syllabi taught in a combined class as seen in theatre, film or television
Jazz - a dance style which reflects modern music as seen in pop videos and in Musical Theatre
Contemporary - a dance style that develops technique whilst encouraging expressive movement
Solo Drama (LAMDA) - pupils are prepared for individual LAMDA examinations in Acting and Verse & Prose. They also have the opportunity to present their work in the local festival competing for medals and gaining valuable advice from highly qualified adjudicators
Musical Theatre & Glee - these classes combine acting and singing with movement in a fun and creative way, designed to build children's confidence and performance skills
Junior and Senior Youth Theatre - these classes include scripted and improvised work in various genres, including musical theatre. These groups take part in the local Watford Festival every year, where we have won many trophies. Actors from these classes also take on the leading roles in our whole-school productions
Our fees are are charged on a termly basis and vary from £89 - £105 per term for group classes depending on the class length and discipline. LAMDA classes are £130 per term and are taught in small groups of 2 or 3 students.
Whether your child is interested in dance, drama, or a bit of both, we have excellent programmes, examinations and performances to bring out their maximum potential.
We follow the syllabi of The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) and The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), which demand suitable qualifications and a high standard of work.
